Christmas plans etc.

Well, the snow's history now. It rained all day on Monday and I got soaking wet while going to the grocery store (and yes, I had a car). Today it's been snowing on and off. Big fat flakes. They melt the moment they hit the ground but look very beautiful coming down, viewed through a window.

My mom asked me to bake some things for Christmas. DH and I are going to my parents house this year. Mom's very busy working and trying to organize their new home and I'm not very busy. I said I would do it. I would have baked something anyway, to take there and for me and DH to enjoy at home. Might as well make a bit more. I'm thinking of doing a fruit cake (not my favourite personally, but DH loves it), a rum and coconut cake, some spiced banana muffins, white chocolate fudge and perhaps a bread or rolls..

I just put Titania (by Mirabilia) on the lap stand and will go and work on it in a moment. It's close to being finished, but I'm not thinking I'll get it done this time around yet. But who knows, if I really get into it, all is possible :)

As for this blog, I'm still working on it. I want to add some things to the side bar and figure out how to add pictures (to the side bar as well as these messages). I'm happy with the background color finally, for the moment at least. Played around with it quite a bit yesterday.

Winter has arrived!

Yep, so I didn't find anything nice and free as a template so will have to settle with this one for now.

It's been a nice and quiet and wintery and Christmassy weekend. It was snowing all day on Saturday and DH and I went out and bought a Christmas tree (a fake one so it will for sure last well into January) and some poinsettias and things to put on the tree. We haven't had a tree before as our previous apartment has been too small. In the evening we watched a movie (Kill Bill 2, a rewatch) and drank hot chocolate.

Today we woke up to a beutiful day, everything covered in pure white snow and luminated by sunshine. We had a quick breakfast and went for a long walk. When we got back home we put the tree up. It looks lovely with the electric candles and golded beaded garland and my stitched ornaments. I'm going to go and put up the rest of our decorations up in a minute. I just love, love, love that it's Christmas again!

First post

I decided to create a blog on a whim. The name is also something I ended up with after having tried a few others. I'm not yet sure how I feel about it, but it seems appropriate enough. It can describe the hopefully lovely thoughts I write here and it also hints at my favourite hobby, cross stitch.
Although being Finnish, I decided to blog in English. Why? Well, it seemed somehow more natural and it enables all fo my online friends to read this. Oh, and I have no idea what the different cross stitch terms are in Finnish. Well, *no* idea is maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but it is certainly more easier to write about stitching in English.

I just watched a Finnish tv-show where people travel in teams around the world guided by clues. A sort of a competition I think, but I'm not quite sure how they determine who wins in the end.. Well, that's beside the point. In the next episode they are going to go to Gold Coast, Australia. And I'm soooo jealous! When I saw those brief climpses tonight I was filled with such a longing I could not believe it. I not only want to go back (to Australia in general and to Gold Coast) but I need to go back! You know, I was thinking of applying for the show, the only thing stopping me was that my wedding was going to coincide with the traveling schedule. Just a minor detail... But wouldn't it have been so cool if I had applied and had got in. My team would have had such an advatage :) Anyway, I think I'm now going to go get a cup of tea and reminisce by looking through our photos.

Oh, and I'm going to try to figure out how to make this blog look more "me".
